Artist David Hockney dies aged 88
His colorful figurative paintings were both conservative and iconoclastic, defying the dominant abstract schools of the mid-20th century.
Two decades later, Hockney moved to Los Angeles to immerse himself in that dazzling light.
David Hockney, the bespectacled and besuited British artist whose work spanned the turquoise swimming pools of Los Angeles to the emerald hills of his native Yorkshire, has died aged 88.
He died peacefully at his home, just one month before his 89th birthday.
