FIFA World Cup 2026: Super Sub Undav Fires Germany Into Knockouts With 94th Minute Winner In 2-1 Win Over Ivory Coast
An edition expanded to 48 teams and graduating no fewer than 32 to the knockout stages never seemed likely to trip Julian Nagelsmann and his men up for a third time running.
Deniz Undav put himself in pole position to start for Germany moving forward at the World Cup 2026 after he scored two goals off the bench a thrilling comeback to beat Ivory Coast.
Four minutes into stoppage time, Undav received a pass from Felix Nmecha in front of the net and rifled it past Ivory Coast goalkeeper Yahia Fofana to give the Germans a comeback win.
This victory marks the first time Germany has advanced beyond the World Cup group stages since they won the tournament back in 2014.
