The Prime Minister assured that Israel would not allow such an incident in the future, calling the incident tragic and unintentional.
“This is happening in wartime. We are scrutinizing it, we are in contact with the governments (of the foreigners among the dead) and we will do everything to make sure it does not happen again,” Netanyahu said in a video message.
Earlier, humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) reported the deaths of 7 staff members in an IDF strike in the Gaza Strip that hit their convoy.
The dead were citizens of Australia, Poland, the UK, Palestine, and a dual citizen of the US and Canada. The organization itself is based in Washington and was engaged, among other things, in organizing food deliveries to the Strip.
The organization’s employees moved around the Gaza Strip in two armored cars with the WCK logo and another vehicle.
Despite coordination with the Israel Defense Forces, the convoy was fired upon as it left a warehouse in the town of Deir al-Balah after unloading more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid delivered to Gaza by sea, WCK reported.
