Larry the Cat outlasts sixth UK Prime Minister as Keir Starmer resigns
After less than two years, Starmer has now met a similar fate himself
King Charles III will in the coming months appoint his fourth British prime minister in as many years after the resignation of Keir Starmer—a rate of turnover higher than at any point in Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign.
Defending his record, he pledged to give his successor “my full and unequivocal support, knowing that they will inherit a Britain that is far stronger and fairer than the one I inherited two years ago”.
Keir Starmer’s major intraparty rival, Andy Burnham (the former Mayor of Greater Manchester), won a crucial Westminster by-election in Makerfield, clearing the path for an immediate leadership challenge.
