Park Police investigating '8647' marking on National Mall

Federal authorities launched an investigation Thursday after a large "8647" marking appeared on the grounds of the National Mall near the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC.

Federal officials on Thursday vowed to arrest and prosecute the vandal who defaced a patch of grass on the National Mall with an oversized "8647," an apparent reference to President Donald Trump.

An Interior Department spokesperson called the incident “deranged” vandalism that “will not be tolerated.”
