Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has said that Western countries should not rule out the introduction of troops into Ukraine if the situation worsens

The Finnish foreign minister said that the West “should not reject any options for the future,” as one cannot predict how much the situation might escalate.

“But the Finnish position is clear: we are not sending any troops (to Ukraine) now and we are not willing to discuss this,” Elina Valtonen said.

As Politico notes, back in late February, then-Finnish President Sauli Niinistö claimed there was a “widespread belief” that a Western military presence in Ukraine was “not foreseeable.”

On the eve, French President Emmanuel Macron said that if Western troops are sent to Ukraine, French forces will not go on the offensive against the Russian Federation.
