Wes Streeting confirms he will stand if Labour leadership race is triggered

Wes Streeting gave his first speech since resigning as health secretary on Saturday

Despite the resignation of one cabinet minister and demands from almost a quarter of Labour Party lawmakers that he stand aside, Britain’s beleaguered prime minister, Keir Starmer, remains in Downing Street.

Former Health Secretary and likely Labour leadership contender Wes Streeting is calling for the United Kingdom to rejoin the European Union.

But it's become academic because Streeting has quit government to prepare for a run at the top job.
