US Democrats push to rein in Trump on Cuba as White House steps up pressure
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered Cubans a "new path" in a special video address on Wednesday hours before Washington was expected to criminally indict the island's former leader Raúl Castro.
It's part of the Trump administration's multi-layered pressure campaign targeting Havana.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio taped a rare message in Spanish directed at the Cuban people, laying blame at the communist leadership for conditions in the country.
Rubio, the son of Cuban parents who immigrated to Florida two years before Fidel Castro rose to power, targeted the Grupo de Administración Empresarial S.A., or GAESA, a politically-connected Cuban business organization that Rubio alleges has $18 billion in assets and control 70% of the economy.
