Uganda’s leading media outlets shut down by army chief

Uganda's military chief and son of President Yoweri Museveni has ordered the shutdown of a major news organization

He did not give specific reasons for closing ​the media outlets, both of which are owned by Nation Media Group (NMG), a media conglomerate headquartered in Kenya and listed on the Nairobi stock exchange.

NTV Uganda has shifted its operations to digital platforms after the military raided its Kampala offices in the early hours of Sunday, June 28, 2026.
