Trump sends Saudi Arabia nuclear deal to Congress
President Donald Trump submitted a proposed agreement with Saudi Arabia on civil nuclear energy to Congress on Monday, starting a mandatory review period for a pact that would open the kingdom to U.S. nuclear technology.
The agreement was signedlast month in Washington by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and his Saudi counterpart.
The Saudi embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Instead, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee review the agreement during a period totaling 90 days that Congress is in continuous session.
