Trump requests $88 billion from Congress for Iran war, Ebola outbreak and farmers aid
White House seeks $88bn from Congress as Donald Trump clashes with Republicans
Hegseth’s hourlong meeting with the GOP House members follows similar sit-downs with Republican senators last week on budget issues.
It arrived just hours after President Donald Trump assailed Republican senators during a private lunch — engaging in a shouting match with one — over their votes to approve a war powers resolution that would halt further hostilities.
The request also would fund U.S. verification activities inside Iran, support inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, strengthen nuclear-smuggling detection efforts and expand Nuclear Emergency Support Team operations across the Middle East.
