Trump pays respects to 4 US service members killed in the Middle East

Donald Trump drew fierce condemnation on Tuesday over social media posts about how many U.S. service members have so far been killed in his Iran war.

The Republican president made the remarks — seemingly without proof — before heading to Dover Air Force Base to attend the dignified transfer of four soldiers who died in the Middle East conflict over the past week.

The Pentagon has identified at least four soldiers who died this month after the U.S. military renewed attacks on Tehran as the temporary ceasefire fell apart.

President Donald Trump has been accused of minimizing the deaths of 18 U.S. service members since the start of the Iran war after comparing the conflict’s death toll with that of previous wars abroad, including Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
