The group ‌of more than two dozen U.S. senators, including the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services ​Committee, Jack Reed, requested in a letter the U.S. military finalize its investigation, brief Congress and present a plan to ensure such a mistake does not happen again.

The letter was sent after Mr. Trump declared the U.S.-Iran ceasefire "over" and ordered several rounds of strikes on Iranian targets, in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz last week.
