Trump changes childhood vaccine schedule with executive order

A memo on the order recommends children receive immunizations for 11 diseases, fewer than the 18 current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

The move revives one of the most contentious public‑health debates heading into the midterms, with federal agencies, pediatricians and courts already divided over recent attempts to pare back the vaccine schedule.

President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order that would significantly alter the federal guidance for childhood vaccines and call for states to reconsider their guidance for vaccine requirements for school, The Washington Post reported.

In recent months, Trump has pressed US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for more action on the childhood vaccine schedule, as well as for stepping up efforts to search for links between vaccines and autism.
