Trump appoints ally and FHFA chief Pulte as acting US intelligence director
The announcement came Tuesday via Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he praised Pulte, who also chairs mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The move follows Tulsi Gabbard resigning from the post last month after her husband was diagnosed with cancer.
The move matters now because it installs a fiercely polarizing figure atop the intelligence community at a moment of heightened political tension and ongoing turnover inside the administration.
The president made the announcement in a post on Truth Social, praising Pulte's management experience and financial oversight credentials.
