US President Donald Trump holds up an executive order establishing a new US Space Academy after signing it at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, on August 28, 2026.

Trump later signed an executive order formally creating the new institution.

President Donald Trump on Friday spoke with American astronauts aboard the International Space Station from Houston, where he honored the Artemis II crew moments earlier.
