Tennessee governor plans to name Nashville airport after Dolly Parton
Bill Lee (R) announced a proposal Friday to rename Nashville’s airport in honor of Dolly Parton, following the late country music star’s death earlier this week.
Bill Lee proposed the name change just days after the country music icon died Tuesday of cancer at age 80.
She is especially beloved in Tennessee, her home state, where vigils, singalongs and tribute performances have taken place.
The decision comes after a social media campaign by fans to change the airport's name to honor Parton after her death.
