South Korea space agency shares Moon images after SpaceX rocket debris crash
A South Korean lunar orbiter got the shot that virtually every telescope and spacecraft attempted to snap on Wednesday when a wayward SpaceX rocket accidentally smashed into the moon.
The European Southern Observatory’s (ESO) Very Large Telescope observed “spectral lines” – a colourful illustration of the sodium and lithium gas – in the plume of lunar dust stirred up by the impact.
In a show of space surveillance strength, a newly launched Chinese satellite tracked a piece of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket crashing into the moon and captured footage of its impact.
Images provided by KASA show a dark shadow and a radial shape being formed on the lunar surface during the moment of impact.
