Sonam Wangchuk: Indian protester ends 26-day hunger strike
Activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike late Thursday night at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.
Indian activist Sonam Wangchuk ended a 26-day hunger strike on Friday over leaked medical school entrance exam papers that protesters say enabled cheating, but demonstrations demanding the education minister’s resignation were set to continue in the biggest youth-led challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
Wangchuk's statement comes at a crucial juncture, as reports surface of isolated incidents where antisocial groups outside the primary protest venue allegedly attempted to provoke confrontations and stir unrest.
He was forcibly removed from a protest venue in Delhi last Saturday and taken to hospital.
