Serena and Venus Williams to play doubles together at Wimbledon
The All England Club announced its wildcard recipients on Tuesday morning in what was one of the highly anticipated wildcard announcements in recent memory considering Serena’s’ return to professional tennis this month after four years of retirement.
Venus, who has still been competing sporadically, turns 46 on Wednesday.
The 44-year-old played her first match since 2022 last week at Queen’s Club, winning one round alongside Victoria Mboko before the Canadian was forced to pull out through injury.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion’s return to the game after nearly four years was cut short at The Queen's Club Championship last week when doubles partner Victoria Mboko was forced to withdraw with a left knee injury.
