Senator Darline Graham advances to runoff in South Carolina special primary

The vote comes less than five weeks after Graham’s unexpected death on July 11 from cardiovascular disease.

CNN and AP called the race for Graham and Norman shortly before 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Henry McMaster to fill the remainder of her late brother Lindsey Graham’s term in July, and she is looking to also take his place on the November ballot and win a full six years in the Senate.

Polls have begun closing in primary elections across the country, as voters in states such as Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Carolina pick their party's candidates ahead of the 2026 midterms.
