Sam Neill death: Jurassic Park star dies aged 78

Neill was born Nigel John Dermot Neill in 1947 in Omagh, Northern Ireland to an English mother, and a New Zealander father who was serving in the British army.

Sam Neill, the versatile New Zealand screen actor who appeared in more than 150 productions over a five-decade career, and who was perhaps best known for his star turn as Dr. Alan Grant in the “Jurassic Park” series, died on Monday in Sydney, Australia.

Neill was surrounded by family when he passed away.
