Polish farmers have not been able to reach an agreement with the government and say they intend to continue their protests

Details of Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s meeting with leaders of the farmers’ movement are reported by Polsatnews.

According to farmers’ representative Andrzej Sobociński, the prime minister told reporters that he does not plan to close the border to imported food products. Instead, he plans to organize the export of excess grain stocks to stabilize the market. However, farmers are unhappy with this approach, arguing that with an open border, the surplus problem could reoccur.

Tusk also failed to satisfy farmers on another issue – the relaxation of EU environmental standards under the Green Deal initiative. The Prime Minister promised to continue negotiations with the European Commission on this issue, but farmers responded by promising to closely monitor the negotiations.

According to the head of the Solidarity of Individual Farmers, Tomasz Obszański, the head of the government came to the meeting with farmers “without constructive proposals” and therefore no agreement was reached.

As a result, the farmers plan to continue their protests, with the next one scheduled for March 20.
