PM Modi greets Donald Trump, people of US on 250th anniversary of independence

Leaders from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to India's PM Narendra Modi sent their well-wishes.

America's role in world affairs and its special relationships with allies and partners were on full display Saturday as world leaders offered congratulations and praise while the U.S. celebrated its 250th birthday.

Putin recalled how Russia had extended its unequivocal support to the North American colonists in their struggle for freedom from British rule.

In Britain, the 250th anniversary of American Independence was mostly just another day, though it did not pass entirely without recognition.
