Pakistan’s imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan taken to private hospital for medical treatment

For years, PTI supporters have protested against Munir, whom they blame for Khan's imprisonment in 2023 following his falling-out with the military leadership.

Authorities on Wednesday asked the Supreme Court to review or withdraw an order requiring Khan to receive a medical examination at a private hospital of his choice.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the shift to be completed within two days.

The move ​followed a supreme court order ‌this week and is ‌seen as a potential first step toward easing tensions between Khan’s party and ‌Pakistan’s powerful military establishment, which have been at odds since his removal from office in 2022.
