Oscar-winning musician and actor Glen Hansard dies in Dublin motorbike crash

The incident happened at Lower Road, Strawberry Beds, Lucan, between Tinkers Hill (R121) and Rugged Lane at 4.30am on Wednesday.

Emergency services were alerted shortly ​before 4:30 a.m. (0330 GMT) and the man was pronounced dead a short time after being treated at ​the scene.

He released ‌a number of albums under his own name and as part of duo The Swell Season with fellow Oscar winner and “Once” co-star Marketa Irglova.

A spokeswoman for Mr. Hansard’s representative, ATC Management, confirmed the songwriter’s death in an emailed statement.
