North Korean women footballers arrive in South Korea for first sports visit in 8 years
A total of 39 players and staff with North Korea’s Naegohyang Women’s FC arrived at Incheon International Airport, just west of Seoul, aboard a plane from China.
Naegohyang will take on Suwon FC Women in the semifinals of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Champions League at Suwon Stadium in Suwon, some 30 kilometers south of Seoul, at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
North Korea has labelled the South its ‘most hostile state’ and ruled out reunification, while South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has called for improved ties
When athletes from the two Koreas, who are still technically at war, meet, the exchange is never only about the game.
