Mexico wants criminal investigation after man killed by ICE in Houston
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot Mexican immigrant Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during an attempted traffic stop arrest on Tuesday.
Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco's announcement Thursday morning further escalated tensions with the United States, as Mexico's government has sharply criticized the treatment of its citizens under President Trump's push to increase deportations.
Few photos or videos surrounding the shooting have emerged publicly in the days since the encounter between Salgado Araujo and ICE agents, unlike other deaths involving federal immigration officers.
Mexico is seeking a criminal investigation in the United States related to the deaths of 17 Mexicans in immigration operations during President Donald Trump’s second term.
