Man Taken Into Custody After Disrupting Worship at Manhattan Synagogue
A New York City man now faces hate crime charges after barging into Shabbat services and attacking two people at a Manhattan synagogue Friday night
Friday's incident comes as antisemitism remains the most frequently reported bias category in the city.
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has had a tense relationship with some members of the city’s Jewish community over his fierce criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza.
The New York police department identified the suspect in the case as Larry Montes, 46, who was arrested after the episode at the synagogue.
