The oil-rich Essequibo region became new states of Venezuela, according to Maduro’s documents. He also appointed the head of the new “state” of Guyana-Essequibo.
The annexation was decided in a referendum in Venezuela. On it, allegedly 95% of Venezuelans supported the seizure of the territory.
