Latvian MEP Tatiana Zhdanok collaborated with the FSB for nearly 20 years, starting in 2004, according to hacked emails, The Insider reports.
Zhdanok accountably reported her activities to Russian intelligence services and assisted them in infiltrating the EU.
In 2005, the MP was in contact with Dmitry Gladei, an FSB officer from St. Petersburg, and regularly met with him both in Europe and Russia. Despite Zhdanok’s claim that she was not aware of Gladei’s work, her letters show her apologizing for not sending promised information from Strasbourg and organizing hearings in the European Parliament about the protests in Tallinn over the relocation of a monument to a Soviet soldier.
In 2013, Zhdanok started a correspondence with another FSB officer. She also helped another FSB officer to obtain a Schengen visa to visit the European Parliament.
