Kushner, Jeffries discuss ways White House and Democrats can collaborate
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Sunday downplayed the reported meeting between President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.).
They and others were granted anonymity to discuss a meeting about which they were not authorized to speak publicly.
The meeting comes months ahead of the November midterm elections in which Democrats are favored to retake the US House, a development that would make Jeffries speaker.
