Jordan says no threats registered after US Embassy security alert

The State Department on Saturday reiterated its worldwide warning for Americans overseas as fears grow that Iran or its supporters could retaliate against U.S. citizens and interests far beyond the Middle East.

The renewed advisory urges Americans traveling or living abroad to remain alert, monitor local developments, avoid locations associated with the United States when possible, and follow instructions issued by their nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

The alert comes as fighting between the United States and Iran intensifies.

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated after the U.S. Embassy in Jordan issued a security alert citing a "specific and credible threat" involving Aqaba Airport and the city's seaport.
