Iran warns countries against joining US ‘economic war’

Iran on Saturday denounced U.S. plans to announce new sanctions that could put further strain on the Islamic Republic's economy and have an impact on its most important trading partners including China.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, issued the warning in a Saturday interview with state broadcaster IRIB.

Washington has pushed its allies to jump aboard Donald Trump's new campaign to isolate the Iranian economy, as the U.S. president's unpopular war drags toward the six-month mark.

In the X post Baghaei termed the US announcement on economic sanctions as "an assertion of extraterritorial sovereignty" against the United Nations' member states.
