Four killed in Kenya as protests over rising fuel prices rage
Police fired teargas at protesters in Nairobi as demonstrations broke out during a nationwide transport strike over soaring fuel prices and rising living costs.
Commuters were stranded in various suburbs and the city centre remained deserted as motorists with private vehicles opted to stay home as protesters burned tyres on major roads.
Kenya’s public transport system was paralysed on Monday, as protesters barricaded roads in protest against fuel price hikes triggered by the Middle East war.
Key roads in the capital Nairobi remained largely empty, forcing some commuters to walk to work, with other parts of the country also affected by the transport crisis.
