Former US representative Barney Frank dies aged 86
He gave a final interview just weeks before his death
Barney Frank, the sharp‑tongued Massachusetts Democrat who reshaped Wall Street oversight after the 2008 financial crash and broke barriers as one of Congress’ first openly gay members, died Wednesday at 86.
Frank, who represented southern Massachusetts in the House of Representatives for over three decades, had been living in hospice care at his home in Maine since April.
One of the best-known gay politicians of his time, Frank served for over 30 years in the U.S. House of Representatives as a member from Massachusetts and a liberal who gladly worked with Republicans.
