Europe’s Heat Wave Is the Worst on Record, Researchers Find
Europeans from Spain to the United Kingdom have been sweltering under extreme heat this week, with temperatures surging to near or above 40 degrees Celsius even before peak summer takes hold.
He also asked ministers for their views on establishing maximum workplace temperatures, prescribing active cooling such as air conditioning and changing school timetables.
The June temperature record was broken at 36.1 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit) in some places.
His message comes amid a heatwave that has smashed several records in the UK and prompted experts to issue stark warnings about increasingly frequent extreme heat events.
