EU finds TikTok violates its digital rule book by failing to protect privacy of minors
The European Union on Friday, July 24, accused TikTok of failing to protect children since their account settings expose them to risks like cyberbullying and predatory behavior, putting the company at risk of a large fine.
TikTok has been charged with breaching EU online content rules designed to protect children from predators or cyberbullying.
The preliminary finding was filed under the Digital Services Act and could result in a significant fine.
The investigation comes on the heels of back-to-back crackdowns on Big Tech by Brussels, which has led the world in regulating tech behemoths including Meta and Apple.
