DR Congo facing 'catastrophic collision' of Ebola and war, WHO chief warns
The WHO has recorded 10 confirmed Ebola deaths and 220 suspected deaths in DRC since mid-May, while also recording a further 900 suspected cases since Kinshasa declared the outbreak on May 15.
Europe is increasing surveillance of potential Ebola symptoms among airline passengers arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo as the deadly virus spreads faster than health workers can contain it.
Medics battling the outbreak are grappling with supply shortages as well as attacks on their facilities, with protesters setting fire to tents for patients in Rwamparaek in the Ituri province last week.
In the space of several weeks, the outbreak has spread to several provinces nearby and on to Ugandan soil, with the World Health Organization declaring the epidemic an international emergency.
