Double stabbing in New York City being investigated as possible hate crime
The New York Police Department's Hate Crimes Task Force has launched investigations into two separate incidents targeting victims because of their religion, following an alleged antisemitic assault in Brooklyn and an anti-Muslim threat in Queens.
One stabbing took place at West 84th Street and Central Park West, and the other happened just blocks away near West 86th Street and Central Park West.
City officials described the violence as an "antisemitic stabbing," though police have not yet identified a motive or said whether the attacks are being investigated as a hate crime.
The assailant, a man whose name has not been publicly released by the police, attacked the two people near Central Park West at around 1:30 p.m., leaving both injured on the street.
