Congo’s Ebola outbreak spreads to sixth province
As the outbreak rapidly expands across the DRC, the latest Africa CDC data showed that the Central African country has recorded a total of 4,449 confirmed cases and 2,061 deaths.
There are no approved vaccines or treatments for the rare Bundibugyo virus responsible for the current outbreak.
The DRC declared its 17th outbreak on May 15 but it is thought to have already been spreading for several weeks.
It is now the country's largest on record and the second-largest Ebola outbreak globally.
