Colbert’s final monologue: Late-night king bows out amid claims of pressure from Trump
A roll call of celebrities have paid pilgrimage to the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York in recent months to join a long goodbye to CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, honouring a voice that will be sorely missed from the national conversation when the lights go dark on 21 May.
On his very first time hosting “The Late Show” back in 2015, Stephen Colbert ripped into Donald Trump while gorging on Oreos, likening his inability to resist the cookies to his inability to resist going after the then-presidential candidate.
His interviews also explored faith, with guests like Dua Lipa and Steph Curry, revealing Colbert's own spiritual transparency.
Stephen Colbert’s final “Late Show” broadcast on Thursday will close out his run in the storied CBS late-night chair once occupied by David Letterman.
