China committed to US on not providing material support to Iran: US trade representative
US President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing with a delegation of leading American tech executives should not be read as a throwback to transactional diplomacy.
Mr. Trump had some warm words about the duo’s “fantastic future” and how the Chinese would buy American goods, but the meeting ended without clear progress toward resolving the two sides’ trade disagreements.
The meeting between the leaders of China and the United States in Beijing last week marked another important round of high-level strategic communication between the two countries at a pivotal moment in history.
Though the visit received positive publicity due to its show of diplomacy and the re-establishment of trade relations, it is being viewed by Trump’s very own advisers as an invitation for Xi to flex his muscles over Taiwan within the next five years.
