China committed to US on not providing material support to Iran: US trade representative
President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping agreed to new agricultural purchasing commitments.
Trump's first visit to Beijing since 2017 ended on Friday with no major breakthroughs on trade or tangible help from Beijing to end the more than two-month-old U.S.-Israeli war on Iran that has roiled the global markets.
The White House released details Sunday of what the two leaders agreed to during Trump’s two-day state visit to China, including a Chinese commitment to buy at least $17 billion a year in U.S. agricultural products through 2028 and a Chinese order of planes from U.S. company Boeing, which disappointed the markets.
Over the weekend, statements from both sides have started to demystify the outcomes of a meeting that was largely about resetting the tone between the world’s top economies after a fractious year that drove both to the edge of decoupling.
