Ceuta Migrant Crisis: Death Toll Nears 90 as 60,000 Cross From Morocco Into Spanish Enclave This Week
EU interior ministers called for tougher action against migrant smuggling networks and stronger returns policies after about 72,000 migrants entered Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta last week, triggering alarm across the bloc.
After many shares and comments, thousands of Moroccans became convinced that Europe was suddenly within reach.
An estimated 60,000 people from Morocco have flooded into Cueta last Thursday, which shares a land border and sits on the northern coast of North Africa.
But an estimated 1,000 minors — among the most vulnerable of those who crossed the border — remain in Ceuta, staying without their families in a foreign land.
