BJP slams ‘selective outrage’ against journalists during NEET protests, says attacks ‘unacceptable’

The first hearing before a Special Fast Track Court set up to deal with the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case was deferred after no lawyer appeared for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh will table the amendment during the Monsoon Session.

While the Opposition calls for thorough scrutiny to protect the innocent, BJP members have welcomed the legislation as a strong deterrent against paper leaks.

Additionally, the bill to amend The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which proposes to increase jail term up to 10 years and fine up to Rs 10 crore for offences related to paper leaks, is likely to be introduced today.
