At least 9 killed in hotel fire in eastern India

Preliminary information suggested an air conditioner in the budget hotel may have exploded

Some victims are believed to be Bangladeshi nationals who had travelled to Kolkata for medical treatment

The blaze erupted around 1:45 a.m. at a hotel in central Kolkata close to the West Bengal Fire Department headquarters, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

Identities of those killed yet to be established; six people have been injured in the incident that was reported around around 1:45 am.
