AliExpress Fined $629 Million by EU Over Product-Safety Concerns
Chinese online retail giant AliExpress has been fined a record €550m (£467m) by the EU for allowing the sale of illegal products such as unsafe toys and counterfeit clothes.
The Chinese e-commerce website AliExpress was fined €550 million on Monday, July 20, for violating the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Temu is still under investigation on other issues by the EU and may yet face another fine.
The fine, the biggest ever imposed for breaches of the 27-nation European Union's Digital Services Act, comes just months after another online retailer, Temu, was fined 200 million euros for similar breaches.
