During an interview with France 24 TV channel, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the CSTO has failed to fulfill the treaty's terms regarding his country.

During an interview with France 24 TV channel, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the CSTO has failed to fulfill the treaty’s terms regarding his country.

At the same time, he said, the issue of closing the Russian military base in Gyumri is not being considered now.

Pashinyan also noted that several months ago the Russian authorities openly called on the Armenian population to overthrow his government. The politician emphasized that the Russian propaganda deployed against him did not weaken.

He characterized the arrest of Russian Dmitry Setrakov in Armenia as a “kidnapping”. Setrakov, who evaded mobilization, was detained by the Russian military in Gyumri in December and sent back to the Russian Federation.

In April 2023, Setrakov escaped from the hospital located on the territory of the military unit, after which he hid from law enforcement agencies for six months. In early October, he surrendered to military police, admitting his guilt. He was then sent to a guarded unit in Rostov-on-Don. However, he managed to escape and returned to Armenia, where he was detained by persons who introduced themselves as “Armenian military police”.

Update: The CSTO secretariat has not received any applications from Yerevan to suspend its participation, the organization told RIA Novosti.
