Resident Hannah Bodrozic, who was in the mall at the time of the attack, told reporters that panic broke out in the building – people did not know which way to run. According to ABC, some shoppers locked themselves in stores and back rooms in the first few minutes.
Police officers eliminated the attacker. The motives for his actions have not yet been established. The law enforcement authorities are investigating whether the perpetrator had accomplices.
